What to wear to a beach wedding often throws up a few sartorial dilemmas, but not to worry, we’re here to help. We’ve curated a collection of key garments to help put you on the right track.
1. BREATHEABLE FABRICS
For a summer beach wedding, you’ll definitely want to wear something that moves and breathes well. Light cottons, linens, and silk blends are always a good choice.
2. BOLD SHIRTING
Get a chambray or patterned shirt that’s not going to leave you sweating all day.
3. CONTRASTING TROUSERS
If you choose to go with a lightly colored blazer, pair it with a dark trouser. If you went with a dark blazer, look for a light trouser.
4. TIE OR POCKET SQUARE
While you could usually wear both, a beach wedding beckons a nonchalant atmosphere – and both accessories can send you into just-a-little-too-formal territory. Give the classic open shirt, no tie, and pocket square a try. Or if you don’t want to leave the tie at home, wear a knit tie, which will keep your look pulled together, but still casual.
5. LEAVE THE SANDALS AT HOME
This wedding might be on the beach, but sandals are too casual for any event, much less a friend’s wedding. With the exception of light colored leather, make sure you avoid heavy fabrics, like suede, which can throw a winter feel to that airy and cool look you’re going for.
